Reasons for the Wear of the Jaw Crusher’s Thrust Plate

Jul 22 2014

Although the structure of the jaw crusher’s thrust plate is very simple, it plays an important role in the jaw crusher. In actual production, the thrust plate is always worn seriously. Now let’s discuss reasons for the wear of the jaw crusher’s thrust plate in the following.

1. Unevenly stress. Jaw crusher’s thrust plate is mainly made of gray cast iron which has poor abrasion resistance, lower anti-flexural strength and toughness. When jaw crusher works, thrust plate’s stress changes continuously. Especially, when jaw crusher breaks big and strong rocks, its thrust plate is worn seriously and even broken.

2. Big contact stress. When jaw crusher breaks materials, the contact areas between the thrust plate with the recess and the toggle seat have big differences. At the same time, the moving rang of the thrust plate is large. So its contact stress id very large, and the contact parts of the thrust plate is easy to be worn.

3. Incorrect connection. The connection methods of the toggle head and the shim head and shim liner include types: scrolling type and sliding type. There is a big pressure between the thrust plate and liner plate. So the thrust plate is easy to be worn during repeated impact extrusion, especially the slide-type, the thrust is worn more seriously.

4. Poor lubrication. During work, if the lubrication between the thrust plate and its supporting liner plate is poor, and there may some dusts falling between them, the thrust plate is easier to be worn.

5. Long-term overload working. When the jaw crusher works, the thrust plate and the liner plate are in frication state. If the jaw crusher always works overload, then the high load pressure will cause the thrust plate being worn.
